Office for mac 2001

broken image

While upgrades to the Mac OS X version of Office, when it's ready, won't be free, Microsoft has promised a significantly reduced price for Office 2001 owners. But Word, Excel and the other Office programs are all fully functional, as far as I can tell. It's not ready for Mac OS X only in the sense that it will run in the Classic Environment, the part of the new OS that runs programs written for older systems.Īs long as you're in Classic mode, you don't get the benefit of most of Mac OS X's enhancements - the new Aqua user interface, the improved stability, etc.

Office 2001, in its current form, will run under Mac OS X, just as the vast majority of other existing Mac applications do.
